MCRB Provided Comments on Draft E-commerce Strategy for Myanmar and Draft eCommerce Guidelines 2020

MCRB welcomes the efforts of the Ministry of Commerce and UNCTAD to conduct an open dialogue between the stakeholders. It is a positive move towards reaching a comprehensive and timely, important set of directions.

MCRB provided a set of comments on the first draft E-commerce Strategy document for Myanmar (version 1, June 2020) and provided remarks on the draft E-Commerce Guidelines 2020.

MCRB's Sector-Wide Impact Assessment (SWIA) on ICT documented challenges that are still relevant to Myanmar's e-commerce sector. These include access to the internet, privacy/data protection, and freedom of expression.

The comments provided focus on the need for the data protection law, e-commerce inclusiveness for people with disabilities and support to the private sector for e-commerce development.
